Job summary

The University of New England in Maine is seeking a Leave Manager to oversee all employee leave programs, ensure compliance, and coordinate return‑to‑work plans. You will serve as the primary contact for employees and supervisors and work with HR, Payroll, and Benefits to maintain accurate pay and benefits during leave.

The role supports FMLA, PFML, Maine FML, ADA accommodations, and Workers’ Compensation, with a hybrid schedule across Biddeford, ME or Portland, ME and occasional travel between

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field with at least 3 years HR leave experience.
• Working knowledge of FMLA, Maine FML, PFML, ADA and related regulations.
• Experience interpreting medical certifications and return‑to‑work planning.

Responsibilities

• Manage a high‑volume caseload of concurrent leaves from initiation to completion.
• Maintain confidential medical and accommodation records in secure files.
• Coordinate with Payroll, Benefits, and HRBPs to ensure accurate pay and benefits during leave.
• Provide training and policy updates on leave processes.
