Job summary

CRB in Kansas City, MO is seeking a Lead Process Utilities Engineer to guide discipline-level execution on life sciences projects, from concept through commissioning, in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

This role leads design, budgets, and client coordination, mentors junior staff, and ensures compliance with industry codes and regulatory guidance in a hybrid in-office model—three days per week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum 10 years of experience for Lead-level candidates; 15+ years for Senior-level.
• Proven experience in design firms, operating companies, or construction environments.
• Deep knowledge of industry codes, regulatory guidance, and local building standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead discipline design efforts and manage project budgets.
• Collaborate with Project Managers on proposals, staffing plans, and schedules.
• Serve as primary contact for clients, internal teams, and partners.
• Conduct quality reviews of technical documents for standards compliance.
• Direct and mentor engineering support staff across projects.
• Deliver internal training to elevate team capabilities.
• Oversee design activities including utility layout, pipe routing, capacity planning, vendor packages, and risk assessments.
• Support commissioning and startup activities on projects.
