Job summary

EPAM Systems, Inc. is seeking a Lead Java Developer to own and drive delivery of Java/Spring Boot based services. You will architect, build, and scale APIs and microservices within distributed systems, and mentor engineers across projects.

The role requires 5+ years of Java/Spring experience, 1+ year leading teams, strong SQL and cloud skills (AWS). You will collaborate with cross-functional partners in a hybrid work setting with four in-office days per week.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on Java and Spring Boot development experience.
• Experience leading and overseeing development teams for at least 1 year.
• Proven ability to design APIs, microservices, and distributed architectures.
• Strong knowledge of software design fundamentals, testing, performance, and production stability.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases, and cloud platforms like AWS.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures and Kafka is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build, release, and support software solutions based on Java and Spring Boot.
• Develop robust APIs, microservices, and distributed system components.
• Guide engineering lifecycle from planning to production support and CI/CD.
• Lead architecture discussions and provide technical mentorship to engineers.
• Deploy on AWS and cloud-native tools to ensure scalable infrastructure.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and business partners to deliver outcomes.
