Job summary

Battelle Memorial Institute seeks a Laboratory Technician in Washington, DC to support cutting-edge research across biology and chemistry disciplines. You will handle sample receipt, preparation, analysis, and equipment upkeep within SOPs and project guidance, ensuring quality and compliance.

The role involves data review, QA activities, routine reports, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Full-time position contingent on contract award and located in DC.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required with 3 years of lab experience in biology and/or chemistry.
• Experience entering data into a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
• Ability and willingness to work in BSL-2 laboratories.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to follow written procedures and work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Support execution of laboratory experiments and sample analysis in chemistry and biology.
• Perform routine experiments per SOPs/work instructions with guidance from senior scientists.
• Operate lab equipment (pipettes, balances, pH meters, microscopes, centrifuges, plate readers).
• Document data clearly and perform initial QC of data before final review by senior staff.
• Communicate progress and results to senior scientists.
• Assist with maintenance of equipment and facilities under quality frameworks (ISO 9001:2015 or 21 CFR Part 58 GLP).
• Follow safety and security guidelines; travel domestically may be required.
