Job summary

Qualifyze is seeking a Senior Backend Lead to own the overall backend ecosystem. You will lead architecture, standards, and delivery quality while growing backend engineers and aligning with the product vision.

Reporting to Head of Engineering, you will drive cross-functional collaboration, define best practices, and ensure scalable, high-quality backend delivery across multiple teams. Hybrid work model with some travel for critical initiatives.

Qualifications

• Strong Java background with SpringBoot and Liquibase.
• Experience leading backend initiatives across multiple teams.
• Experience defining architecture and driving adoption at scale.
• Experience mentoring senior engineers and influencing technical direction.
• Solid understanding of Java and PostgreSQL performance, database modeling and risk analysis.
• Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the backend vision across teams (architecture, design systems, tooling, standards).
• Lead and support backend engineers; drive engagement, efficiency, growth.
• Own hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, and compensation cycles.
• Align backend work with frontend/data/platform constraints; be escalation point.
• Stay close to the codebase with selective PR reviews and architectural guidance.
