Job summary

Aquent, a leading talent solutions company, is partnering with a prominent financial services firm known for empowering active traders. This role designs, develops, and supports robust backend services powering charting, market data, and analytics for thousands of traders daily.

As part of an Agile team you will own features end-to-end—from design through production support—utilizing Java, Spring, and RESTful APIs to deliver high-performance, scalable software in a hybrid Ann Arbor environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software development experience.
• 4+ years of Java development experience.
• Strong object-oriented analysis and design.
• Experience designing, developing, and supporting backend services and RESTful APIs.
• Experience building and supporting distributed or client/server applications.
• Experience with Spring Framework and related technologies.
• Experience developing and supporting applications in Linux and/or Windows environments.
• Experience with source control, automated testing, build, and deployment tools.
• Experience with relational databases and data access technologies.
• Experience with messaging technologies and event-driven architectures.
• Experience analyzing and improving application performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Demonstrated ability to independently own features from design through production support.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve moderately complex technical issues.
• Experience participating in code reviews and technical design discussions.
• Experience working within Agile development teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services supporting charting and market data applications.
• Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and support.
• Collaborate with product owners, business partners, and engineering teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
• Design and implement APIs and service integrations that support internal and client-facing applications.
• Analyze and resolve application defects, production issues, and performance bottlenecks.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards and best practices.
• Support release activities and help maintain system stability, availability, and performance.
