Job summary

SAIC is seeking a motivated Junior-level Java Backend Developer with cloud experience for a hybrid-remote role in Ashburn, VA. You will work with the tech lead and team to design, develop, test, and validate a Java backend application with messaging and transaction processing.

The role requires hands-on Java development, 2+ years of experience, and familiarity with cloud services (AWS), Docker/Kubernetes, and CI/CD practices. On-site 2 days per week in Ashburn, VA.

Qualifications

• B.S. Degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
• 2+ years of software development experience.
• 2+ years of Java/JEE design and development experience.
• 1+ year of cloud experience using serverless services like AWS Lambda.
• Experience with NoSQL DBs (MongoDB/DocumentDB/DynamoDB).
• Docker and Kubernetes experience.
• Spring Boot/AWS cloud experience.
• Web/Microservices and SQL DBs (Oracle preferred).
• XML/JSON, Unix/Linux, JDBC/JPA/Hibernate, and design patterns knowledge.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab/JIRA/Jenkins).

Responsibilities

• Participate in system architecture design and full software life cycle for a Java backend application.
• Hands-on coding and mentoring junior team members.
• Collaborate with users in an Agile environment to gather requirements and refine solutions.
• Provide application support during testing and production and deploy fixes as needed.
