Job summary

New Vision Co-op is seeking an IT Systems Engineer to oversee the management, maintenance, and security of our server infrastructure. This hybrid-capable role ensures smooth operation of servers and related systems, optimizing performance and applying patches.

Qualifications

• Two- or four-year degree in information technology-related field and one year of related experience.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and manuals.
• Familiarity with networking concepts and cabling practices.
• Experience with Microsoft server and workstation operating systems and SQL databases.
• Knowledge of security best practices and mobile computing.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot physical and virtual server infrastructure.
• Administer Linux-based and Microsoft server operating systems, applications, and supporting services.
• Manage virtualization hosts, server environments, and new infrastructure implementations.
• Deploy, configure, and support self-hosted open-source applications and platforms.
• Monitor server performance, capacity, availability, and reliability; address issues proactively.
• Implement server security controls, policies, patching, access controls, and firewall protections.
• Plan and perform system upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure improvements.
