Job summary

Department of Motor Vehicles in Sacramento seeks an Information Technology Manager I to lead the Data Technical Group within the Enterprise Modernization Project Branch. This role directs application support and development for DMV core business applications and handles workforce planning, budgeting, procurement, and strategic IT initiatives.

The position is a 12-month limited term full-time assignment with telework allowed as hybrid.

Qualifications

• Desirable managerial or supervisory experience leading technical teams and managing staff, consultants, and vendor resources.
• Experience in managing technical teams supporting mission-critical systems with extended hours or 24x7 support.
• Experience in large-scale data conversion, data migration, data integration, or data modernization initiatives.
• Experience in planning, organizing, directing, and delegating.
• Experience in supervising multidisciplinary staff.
• Experience in project management and SDLC/Agile methodologies.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Direct application support and development activities for DMV’s core business applications.
• Oversee workforce and succession planning, IT budgeting and procurement, and strategic planning.
• Gather business requirements to design systems, develop technical specs, test and implement new applications and services, and maintain existing systems.
• Serve as Technical Manager and Contract Manager for IT projects.
