Job summary

Middlebury College seeks a Research and Data Analyst to support institutional research, assessment, and data-informed decision-making. You will collect, analyze, and communicate data and support federal and external reporting, including CDS and IPEDS, while preparing clear reports for diverse audiences.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field and 3–5 years of relevant experience, with strong data management, analytical, and communication skills to translate complex data

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a quantitative related field, with 3-5 years of relevant experience in institutional research, data analysis, assessment, or a related area.
• Strong data management and analytical skills, including experience cleaning, standardizing, filtering, transforming, merging, and validating data to create reliable datasets for analysis and reporting.
• Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills, including the ability to translate complex or technical information into clear, accessible insights for audiences with varying levels of data literacy.
• Ability to use data to tell a story, identify meaningful trends and patterns, and translate findings into actionable insights.
• Strong organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Intellectual curiosity and strong problem-solving skills for identifying meaningful changes and patterns over time.

Responsibilities

• Collect, extract, organize, and prepare data from a variety of institutional and external sources for reporting and analytical projects.
• Analyze and interpret institutional data to identify trends, patterns, and key insights with effective visualizations.
• Assist with external reporting, including CDS and IPEDS, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports on enrollment, degrees awarded, student outcomes, and other topics.
• Maintain institutional performance indicators and benchmarking data for the IR team.
• Design, administer, and analyze surveys with campus partners; manage survey projects from development through reporting.
• Communicate project status and findings through reports, presentations, dashboards, and other formats.
