Job summary

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is seeking two Industrial Engineering interns for the summer 2027 intern program in Topeka. You will analyze processes and develop improvement recommendations, quantify savings, and document processes to support business needs.

You will establish work standards through time studies and present projects to leadership. Applicants must be undergraduates in IE with a 2.75+ GPA, be proficient in Excel/PowerPoint, and may have experience with

Qualifications

Currently enrolled as an undergraduate in a BS in Industrial Engineering program
Minimum GPA of 2.75 required
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Experience with Minitab, Microsoft Access, Visio, and Tableau/Power BI preferred
Effective communication across all levels; low absenteeism; self-motivated

Responsibilities

Analyze processes and develop improvement recommendations for operations and functions
Quantify savings from projects using engineering solutions
Prepare documentation and process maps to support business needs
Establish and update work standards through time studies
Analyze activity timings and calculate standard work times with Workstudy+
Develop and maintain systems supported by Engineering Services
Design new reports and programs as needed
Communicate with supervision and management regarding systems
Present summer projects to leadership and complete special projects
