Job summary

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is seeking an RPA Engineering intern for the Summer 2027 program. The role offers a hybrid work schedule in Kansas or Missouri, with relocation as needed.

You will gain real-world experience by working closely with our engineering team on RPA projects and learning our business. Candidates must be an undergraduate in CS/Engineering with at least one year in the program, 2.75 GPA, and familiarity with languages such as C/C++, Python, SQL and JavaScript.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate in a BS program in CS/Engineering/MIS or related with at least 1 year in the program.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.75.
  • Working knowledge of multiple languages listed (C/C#/C++, Python, VB.Net, SQL, HTML, Java, JavaScript).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with process documentation tools (Visio, flowcharts, Task Capture).
  • Experience automating processes with tools like UiPath, Power Automate.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare documentation and development for robotic process automation (RPA).
  • Analyze processes and make automation recommendations for operations and functions.
  • Quantify savings from RPA projects for the organization.
  • Create process documentation and BI dashboards from data sources (Power BI, Tableau).
  • Develop/maintain systems supported by Engineering Services.
  • Prepare and design new reports and coding as needed.
  • Regularly communicate with supervision and management about automation solutions.
  • Present summer projects to leadership.

Applicants must reside in Kansas or Missouri or be willing to relocate as a condition of employment.”

Compensation $26.50/hour

What you’ll do
  • Prepare documentation and development for robotic process automation (RPA).
  • Analyze processes/activities and make automation recommendations for operational and functional areas.
  • Quantify savings to the organization based on projects that utilize RPA solutions.
  • Create process documentation and utilize business intelligence and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.) converting data from various data sources into interactive dashboards and analysis reports.
  • Develop/maintain systems supported by Engineering Services.
  • Prepare and/or design new reports and coding as needed.
  • Regularly correspond with and answer questions from supervision and management concerning automation solutions.
  • Present summer projects in a final presentation to leadership.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
What you need
  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate in a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Computing, Management Information Systems, or related curriculum with at least 1 year in the program
  • Minimum GPA of 2.75
  • Working knowledge of multiple computer languages preferred (C/C#/C++, Python, VB.Net, SQL, HTML, Java, JavaScript)
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with process documentation preferred (Visio, flowcharts, Task Capture)
  • Experience automating processes using tools and techniques preferred (UiPath, Power Automate)
  • Communicate effectively with employees at all organizational levels
  • Self‑motivated and able to learn, develop and contribute in a fast‑paced environment
