Job summary

Harvard University seeks a Principal IAM Engineer to lead identity and access platforms, delivering secure, high-quality services across the Harvard ecosystem.

You will collaborate with Harvard Business School IT and external vendors to drive strategic initiatives, improve operations, and ensure service excellence in a complex, enterprise environment.

The role is hybrid, requiring on-site presence in Boston, strong communication, and a focus on reliability and security across teams.

Qualifications

• Seven years of post-secondary education or relevant work experience.
• Experience with identity and access management technologies and security.
• Experience leading services through full lifecycle using Agile delivery.
• Proven MSP/vendor management and ability to drive accountability.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Service Owner and Technical Oversight Lead for IAM platforms.
• Define and execute the long-term IAM roadmap.
• Provide design, advanced support, troubleshooting, process improvement, and documentation.
• Lead the full IAM service lifecycle from strategy to ongoing support.
• Translate complex problems into clear requirements for engineers and end-users.
• Build partnerships with IT colleagues, MSPs, vendors to support enterprise goals.
• Oversee MSP relationships and vendor performance, ensuring compliance with standards.
• Mentor engineers and supervise temporary resources.
• Model and promote a collaborative, service-oriented culture.
• Build trust and collaboration by engaging on-site with colleagues.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.
