Job summary

GFT is seeking an emerging Highway/Roadway Project Engineer to support its Transportation group in Kansas City, MO or Wichita, KS. The role follows a hybrid model with at least 3 days onsite.

You will design roadway projects, manage plans and cost estimates, and coordinate with clients and subconsultants to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery. The ideal candidate has a civil engineering degree, a Kansas/Missouri PE license, 8+ years of transportation design experience, and proficiency in

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Kansas or Missouri; additional state licensure is a plus.
• 8+ years of engineering experience with broad knowledge of transportation design and strong highway design skills.
• Experience with State DOT and/or local municipality/county design projects.
• Proficient in MicroStation, OpenRoads, and Microsoft Office products.
• Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform roadway design tasks from concept development to final design, including construction support.
• Develop plans, specifications, cost estimates, reports, and final bid packages.
• Establish working relationships with client staff and project managers.
• Mentor junior engineers on project assignments and coordinate with subconsultants.
• Attend internal and external meetings and coordinate design activities among teams.
• Project QA/QC and ensure work meets quality standards.
