Job summary

Carex Consulting Group is partnering with a HealthTech startup to hire a Senior Research Scientist who will serve as the analytical backbone of a national youth mental health initiative. This hybrid role in Washington, DC focuses on rigorous research design, high-quality analyses, and building data and measurement systems behind a large-scale resource.

The ideal candidate has a PhD or equivalent with 5+ years of hands-on research, strong statistics, and proficiency in R/Python within Databricks

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent expertise with 5+ years of hands-on quantitative research experience.
• Strong command of statistical methods, research design, measurement, and validation.
• Advanced proficiency in R and/or Python for analysis, data prep, and workflows.
• Experience applying large language models or generative AI to research and analytics workflows.
• Familiarity with Databricks and Azure environments preferred.
• Experience building composite indices or measurement frameworks; geospatial analysis a plus.
• Proven ability to produce rigorous scientific writing and peer‑reviewed research.
• Clear scientific and technical communication in English, written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Drive development of a nationally significant youth dataset across four surveys and thousands of participants.
• Design rigorous quantitative methods, measurement approaches, validation studies, and analytical frameworks.
• Lead end-to-end analysis from data prep and modeling to interpretation and delivery of insights.
• Evolve the data platform from static dashboards to an interactive, explorable experience for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with product and engineering to prototype AI-enabled tools for data interrogation.
• Develop analytical workflows using R/Python in Databricks and Azure.
• Lead peer‑reviewed manuscripts and validation publications supporting the initiative.
• Translate complex analyses into clear technical documentation for partners.
• Adapt to a fast-paced startup environment, continually learning new methods.
