Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Staff Technical Program Manager to oversee in-house hardware component programs. The role partners with S&E Engineering, Product Management and TPMs to drive milestones, schedules and readiness across hardware, software and systems teams.

You will coordinate hardware design, development and validation, manage external contract manufacturers, and track inter-team dependencies while providing clear progress updates to GM leadership.

Qualifications

  • BS in engineering, science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Technical Program Management experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years managing contract manufacturers for hardware products (PCBA design release, BOM mgmt, SMT processes).
  • Ability to understand complex hardware/software systems and product development processes.
  • Strong technical and non-technical communication skills.
  • Be detail-oriented and able to bring order to teams in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Create and own program milestones, cross-team integration schedules and execution plans.
  • Coordinate hardware design, development and validation efforts.
  • Manage engagement with Contract Manufacturer for PCBA/Mechanical design releases, hardware builds and validation.
  • Capture and track inter-team dependencies and handoffs; monitor and resolve issues.
  • Facilitate decision making to develop project scope of work documents and plans.
  • Communicate progress to GM leadership and lead program reviews.
