Job summary

The National Academies seeks a Contracts and Grants Accountant to manage large, complex portfolios including contracts and grants from multiple sponsors. You will work independently, applying professional judgement to billing, reporting, and documentation, while serving as a subject matter expert for internal staff and sponsors.

You will collaborate with the Contracts and Grants Accounting unit and finance service team to support the award life cycle, audits, and confidential information

Qualifications

• Practical experience with grant and contract financial management for government or non-profit organizations.
• Ability to interpret financial terms and apply them to billing and reporting activities.
• Experience with AR aging, cash/bank reconciliations and revenue recognition.

Responsibilities

• Manages a portfolio by coordinating billing and receivable matters with internal and external customers.
• Reconciles and analyzes revenue, billable, and unbillable amounts monthly.
• Prepares sponsor invoices and supporting documents in a timely, accurate manner.
• Provides financial analysis and support including settlement proposals and grant to date burden rate analyses.
• Communicates with sponsors and internal customers to resolve issues and ensure timely reporting.
• Supports audits and ad-hoc data collection, reporting, and projects.
