Job summary

The George Washington University is seeking an International Student and Scholar Advisor to carry out F-1 and J-1 immigration responsibilities, sign I-20s and DS-2019s, monitor SEVIS data, and provide individual and group advising to international students and scholars on immigration, academics and personal matters.

Based at GWU's Foggy Bottom campus in Washington, DC, the role supports orientation programs, welcomes new arrivals, and reports to the Manager of International Student & Scholar

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience.
• Experience with immigration advising and DSOs/AROs is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal English skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Experience supporting international students and scholars is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as DSO (F-1) and/or ARO (J-1) for exchange visitors.
• Review and issue immigration documents (I-20s, DS-2019s).
• Maintain accurate student records in SEVIS.
• Plan and implement orientation programs for new international students and scholars.
• Assist in welcome center activities and ongoing student adjustment.
