Job summary

Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is seeking an entry-level Information Technology GIS Analyst I in Los Angeles, CA. The role supports GIS and IT operations under supervision, develops practical experience in GIS, data processing, and reporting, and contributes to project teams and technology-driven solutions.

The position offers a hybrid work schedule with two in-person days per week and remote work on other days, with a telework policy under negotiation.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, or other related Information Technology degree.

Responsibilities

Provide GIS and technology support by troubleshooting hardware/software and GIS applications; respond to questions and help users find practical solutions.
Support GIS/tech projects by assisting tasks on project teams and coordinating activities, gaining hands-on experience with GIS initiatives.
Maintain GIS data by entering, updating, organizing, validating, and processing spatial/attribute information to support accuracy and usability.
Assist GIS data processing and quality control by reviewing for completeness/accuracy and identifying discrepancies.
Perform research and related tasks to gather, organize, interpret, and present geographic/tech information for department operations.
