Job summary

Georgia Power, a subsidiary of Southern Company, is seeking an Office Survey Specialist to ensure surveying and mapping deliverables are accurate, complete, and compliant with standards. The role focuses on field-to-office coordination, review of plans, maps, and PLS-CADD models, and ongoing communication with field personnel and clients.

Requirements include a high school diploma (Required), a related bachelor’s degree (Preferred), and at least two years of professional surveying experience

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (Required).
• Bachelor’s degree in Surveying and Mapping, Geomatics, Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field (Preferred).
• Two years of professional land surveying experience (Required).
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson, MicroStation, or comparable survey mapping software (Required).
• Experience processing, interpreting, or reviewing survey data (Required).
• Experience applying mapping standards and quality-control procedures (Required).
• PLS-CADD (Preferred).
• GPS or other positioning technologies used in land surveying (Preferred).
• LiDAR, laser scanning, GIS, or related geospatial data (Preferred).
• Utility industry experience (Preferred).

Responsibilities

• Perform QA/QC reviews of surveying and mapping products.
• Review plan sheets, parcel maps, boundary products, topographic maps, property exhibits, and PLS-CADD models for accuracy and standards.
• Apply established standards, procedures, and checklists when reviewing deliverables.
• Process and interpret survey field data for boundary, topographic, volumetric, hydrographic, and other surveying applications.
• Perform CADD mapping and PLS-CADD tasks to support project delivery.
• Interpret deeds, plats, easements, rights-of-way documents, and survey drawings.
• Support field survey personnel and office mapping staff.
• Coordinate with field personnel, office staff, contractors, and clients to resolve issues.
• Review contractor mapping deliverables and communicate required corrections and schedule impacts.
• Track project status and communicate progress, risks, and quality concerns.
• Organize and prioritize multiple projects to meet delivery schedules.
• Maintain Land Engineering procedures, standards, and process documentation.
• Support accurate field-data acquisition and office-mapping processes.
• Provide training and mentoring to team members.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal clients.
