Job summary

AMS Impact Group seeks a General Ledger Accountant to maintain the integrity of the general ledger, prepare financial reports, and support month-end close. This role collaborates with Payroll, Accounts Payable, Grants, and Finance leadership to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with GAAP in a mission-driven education-focused organization.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's in Accounting or related field, at least four years of relevant experience, and strong Excel/ERP skills, with

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum of four years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
• Experience preparing financial statements, reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Experience supporting month-end and year-end close processes.
• GAAP knowledge; nonprofit/educational accounting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post accurate journal entries in accordance with GAAP and policies.
• Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts integrity.
• Complete month-end and year-end close activities timely.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and monitor cash activity.
• Prepare monthly financial reports for stakeholders.
• Support audits and annual financial statement processes.
• Assist with federal/state compliance reporting and internal controls.
• Collaborate with AP, Payroll, Grants, and Finance teams.
• Participate in system enhancements and process improvements.
