Job summary

The State of Illinois, Department of Central Management Services, seeks an accounting professional to support GAAP reporting and financial statements. Under the GAAP Coordinator, you will analyze financial data, prepare journal entries, and develop reports for fund statements.

This role offers growth in governmental accounting, audit exposure, and a hybrid in-office arrangement. A bachelor’s degree in accounting and 1 year GAAP experience are preferred; CPA is a plus.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a bachelor’s degree other than accounting if it includes at least 24 accounting credits.
• Prefers knowledge of accounting theory, principles, methods, and procedures.
• Prefers knowledge of office methods and standard software (Outlook, Access, Excel, Word).
• Prefers 1 year of professional experience preparing complete financial statements (GAAP).
• Prefers 1 year of experience developing and maintaining cooperative relationships.
• Prefers CPA licensure or pending licensure requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepares monthly, quarterly, and other financial reports and reconciliations.
• Completes SCO forms for GAAP reporting.
• Works with auditors and other parties on GAAP packages and reports.
• Performs other duties within the scope of duties listed.
