Placements24 is seeking an Internal Auditor for a public sector client in Queenstown (Eastern Cape). The role focuses on evaluating internal controls, risk management, and governance with a hybrid work setup for on-site audits and remote analysis.

The candidate should have 3–5 years in internal/external audit, strong knowledge of COSO and IIA standards, and professional qualifications such as CIA/CA(SA)/ACCA are highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Auditing, or a related field.
• Professional qualification such as CIA, CA(SA), ACCA, or similar is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in internal or external audit, with a focus on financial audits.
• Strong knowledge of auditing principles, standards (e.g., IIA Standards), and practices.
• Understanding of risk management frameworks and internal control systems (e.g., COSO).

Responsabilités

• Plan, execute, and report on financial, operational, and compliance audits.
• Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls and recommend improvements.
• Assess risks associated with organizational activities and identify mitigation strategies.
• Review financial records, transactions, and systems to ensure accuracy and compliance with policies and regulations.
• Conduct fieldwork, including interviewing staff, reviewing documentation, and performing testing procedures.
• Prepare clear, concise, and constructive audit reports, highlighting findings and management action plans.
• Follow up on the implementation of audit recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, accounting standards, and best practices.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of the annual audit plan.
• Collaborate with management to foster a strong internal control environment.
