Job summary

Bionova Scientific LLC, a growing biotech CDMO, is seeking a strategic Controller in Fremont, CA. This role leads accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance, supporting milestone-based revenue and capex tracking in a regulated manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate brings 10+ years in accounting/finance, strong US GAAP expertise, and ERP experience. Hybrid work and collaboration with BD, PM, HR, and IT are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, preferably in biotech/pharma/CDMO.
• Deep knowledge of US GAAP, revenue recognition, and cost accounting principles.
• Hands-on milestone accounting, project-based financials, and contract review.
• ERP systems experience (QAD, SAP, NetSuite, or equivalent).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with executives and stakeholders.
• Biotech/pharma/CDMO experience is a plus.
• Base compensation range identified in the ad: $190,000–$210,000.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes with accuracy and timeliness.
• Oversee preparation of financial statements, variance analyses, and leadership reporting packages.
• Ensure regulatory and audit compliance across the organization.
• Manage revenue recognition for CDMO contracts, including milestone payments and long-term agreements.
• Collaborate with BD and PM to ensure accurate financial terms and reporting.
• Monitor deferred revenue, WIP, and client-related costs.
• Oversee GMP/non-GMP cost accounting, material consumption, and variance analysis.
• Partner with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and PM to track project margins.
