Job summary

Bayer Crop Science is offering a Data Collection and Digital Phenotyping Intern position at our Chesterfield, Missouri facility. You will gather imagery and remote sensing data from field trials and collaborate with Field Testing, Data Science, and Computer Vision teams to drive research goals.

The role involves hands-on data collection using UAVs and various sensing technologies, plus contributing to data-driven agronomic assessments and workflow improvements.

Qualifications

• Active MS or PhD candidate in a relevant discipline (data science, precision agriculture, agricultural engineering, plant physiology, crop science, entomology, weed science, or pathology)
• FAA Part 107 license to operate UAVs is a must, or ability to obtain before the start date
• Strong knowledge of remote sensing technologies, including LiDAR and multi-spectral or hyperspectral technologies
• Familiarity with agricultural research and field trial methodologies
• Basic understanding of core ML concepts (loss functions, regularization, optimization methods such as SGD/Adam, and learning rate scheduling)

Responsibilities

• Collect imagery and other sensing data from field trials using LiDAR and multi-spectral sensors
• Collaborate with Field Testing and Data Science partners to integrate digital phenotyping insights
• Support agronomic assessments using ground-truthing and UAV/sensing data collection
• Contribute to system and workflow improvements by solving large-scale data challenges
