Job summary

The Lewis Central Community School District Operations Center - Facilities in Council Bluffs, IA is hiring a Maintenance Technician/Bus Driver. This full-time, year-round role combines maintenance duties with student transportation responsibilities, requiring a CDL and the ability to obtain Iowa School Bus Driver Authorization.

Work schedule includes 9 hours per day with overtime; paid holidays and comprehensive benefits offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1-2 years experience in general maintenance tasks preferred but not required.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and related maintenance equipment.
• Must possess a CDL Permit prior to hire.
• Must obtain a Class B CDL with Passenger and School Bus endorsements within 3 months of hire and have the ability to operate District vehicles safely.
• Must obtain a School Bus Driver Authorization Card from the State of Iowa. Paid training provided.

Responsibilities

• Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis.
• Performs general maintenance tasks, including light carpentry, painting, basic repairs, hauling, and minor equipment maintenance.
• Assists with preventive maintenance of building systems and equipment.
• Supports grounds-related duties such as upkeep of outdoor areas, including mowing, trimming trees and grass, trash removal, and pressure washing, etc.
• Operates hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Operates district vehicles and motorized equipment safely as needed.
• Assists with inventory tracking and recommends materials or supplies for maintenance tasks.
• Responds to weather-related needs, including snow and ice removal.
• Fills daily custodial vacancies as needed.
• Supports other maintenance staff or trades and may respond to district-wide emergencies.
• May be required on-call for after-hours emergencies.
• Other duties as assigned.
