Job summary

County of Riverside's Riverside University Health System – Public Health is seeking an Epidemiologist to design and conduct epidemiologic evaluations, research studies, and program evaluations supporting RivCo One and cross-department collaboration.

The role involves liaison work with committees, agencies, and media, with a hybrid 9/80 schedule requiring three days in-office weekly and telecommuting options for other days. Strong analytical skills and initiative are essential.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Public Health with emphasis in Epidemiology, Bio-Statistics, Administration, or closely related field.
• One year of experience analyzing public health data (e.g., communicable disease, maternal/child health) and evaluating outcome studies.
• Ph.D. or DrPH in Epidemiology may substitute for one year of required experience.
• Knowledge of epidemiology, public health practice, and data analysis methods; familiarity with grant generation proposals.

Responsibilities

• Designs and conducts epidemiologic studies and program evaluation plans for the Public Health Department; represents the program chief at meetings and with committees, agencies, boards and the media.
• Reviews, analyzes, and reports on epidemiology surveys; designs data collection; assesses risk of disease hazards and epidemics; interprets data and makes policy recommendations.
• Plans, coordinates, and implements evaluation of departmental health care activities for strategic public health planning; acts as lead in absence of the Public Health Program Chief.
• Performs disease surveillance; designs and analyzes disease/risk levels in the community; reports findings.
• Assists in design and operation of data systems for monitoring disease status and trends.
