Job summary

AECOM in Raleigh, NC is seeking an Entry-Level Civil Engineer to join our Roadway Design team for hands-on experience from concept through construction. The Summer 2027 start offers exposure to plan production and transportation projects.

You will work with senior engineers on roadway design, learning NC DOT standards and using MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer. This role is ideal for recent graduates seeking practical, real-world infrastructure experience.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related discipline.
• Basic understanding of civil design principles, roadway geometry, and CAD drafting.
• EIT certification (or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire).

Responsibilities

• Assist roadway plan design including alignments, profiles, cross-sections, and quantity summaries.
• Support senior engineers in ROW plans, MOT layouts, and cost estimates.
• Learn and apply NC DOT roadway design standards, manuals, and plan procedures.
• Draft and revise plan sheets using MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer.
• Perform basic engineering calculations for horizontal and vertical geometry.
• Coordinate utilities, SUE, and other design disciplines.
• Participate in field reviews, data collection, and coordination meetings with senior engineers.
• Maintain organized project files following QA/QC procedures.
