Job summary

biBerk, a Berkshire Hathaway company, is seeking an Underwriting Associate for its Commercial Underwriting Unit in Omaha, NE. This hybrid role requires in-office presence on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with remaining days flexible.

You will learn and apply underwriting criteria across Workers’ Compensation, Business Owners, Commercial Auto, Professional Liability, and Umbrella lines for small businesses. We welcome both entry level and experienced candidates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus a strong Wonderlic score (cognitive ability & problem-solving)
• Prior underwriting experience is a plus, but not required
• Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment is important

Responsibilities

• Use underwriting criteria to evaluate risks across lines of business
• Independently verify insured operations
• Review and process change requests on in-force policies
• Evaluate policies at renewal to determine risk & rates
• Participate in underwriting training for new products & directives
• Contribute to projects as assigned
