Job summary

Vance Granville Community College is seeking a Full-time Instructor of English to teach in-person and/or online across the Henderson, Warrenton, Franklin, and Oxford campuses. The instructor collaborates with the Department Chair and Academic Dean to prepare syllabi, student learning outcomes, tests, and course materials, while maintaining accurate records and LMS updates.

The role emphasizes active learning, student success outcomes, and ongoing professional growth; teleworking up to two days

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in English or higher in English; regional accreditation required.
• Ability to travel between VGCC campuses as needed (Henderson, Franklinton, etc.).
• Experience delivering in-person and online instruction preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach English courses in-person and/or online.
• Prepare syllabi, student learning outcomes, tests, and course materials.
• Maintain LMS courses and communicate with students via LMS.
• Record attendance and grades in a timely fashion.
• Report student issues to Department Chair; address academic integrity concerns.
• Assess learning outcomes and use results for course improvements.
• Maintain accurate class records and stay current with technology used in instruction.
