Job summary

UL Solutions in Northbrook, IL is seeking a qualified engineer for a hybrid role with three days on-site. The candidate will determine project scope, plan investigations, and coordinate client testing activities, communicating progress and results to clients.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, 1–2 years of industrial lab/engineering experience, and proficiency in Microsoft Office, plus strong communication skills to interact with customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field is required.
• 1-2 years of experience in an industrial laboratory or engineering is required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with customers.

Responsibilities

• Determines project scope, develops a preliminary plan of investigation, and determines project specifications such as cost, time, and sample requirements by analyzing client input, available data, and product construction.
• Projects may include travel to conduct or witness tests at client sites and to promote UL services.
• Communicates with clients to discuss technical issues, explain UL procedures and requirements, convey project cost, and negotiate completion date and sample requirements.
• Establishes appropriate test programs by reviewing files and manufacturer's information, examining samples, and applying UL requirements.
• Prepares data sheets, schedules work, and coordinates laboratory activities and staff.
