Job summary

Infinitesima Ltd in Abingdon, UK, is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Data Analysis team that builds the image-analysis application turning AFM scan data into 3D measurements. You will lead cross-functional engineers, shape software strategy and ensure robust, offline-capable software within a fab environment.

The role combines hands-on technical leadership with people management, mentoring engineers and coordinating with R&D, Systems Engineering and Product teams.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading and developing technical teams, including appraisals and recruitment.
• Strong hands-on software background, ideally in image processing, computer vision or scientific data analysis.
• Proficiency in Python development with practical exposure to Agile/Lean practices.
• Solid understanding of software development lifecycle and best practices.
• Experience working with external partners or suppliers.
• Excellent communication skills in English and collaborative approach.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a team of scientific software engineers to deliver reliable software in a time-sensitive environment.
• Own the team's software strategy, shaping image-processing algorithms, architecture and tooling.
• Coach team members through 1:1s, appraisals and career development; manage hiring.
• Plan, track and report progress with project leads and align with wider programmes.
• Balance technical debt with delivery speed and long-term maintainability.
• Improve engineering processes using Agile and Lean practices.
