Job summary

Clearway Energy Group in San Diego seeks an Associate, Energy Management to assist in trading, hedging, risk management, and optimization of renewable, battery, and conventional assets. You will drive commercial partnerships essential to the operation of our energy portfolio.

This role collaborates with Market Fundamentals, Business Development, Origination, Asset Management, Credit and Energy Risk, and Operations to manage energy transactions and scale capabilities in a growing organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, engineering, or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience in power trading, origination, renewable energy, or other transactional industries.
• Strong understanding of North American power markets and power generation technologies.
• Experience in supporting the structuring, negotiation, and execution of energy transactions.
• Knowledge of the energy industry, including regulated and deregulated electricity markets and project financing structures and key value drivers.
• Highly motivated self-starter with attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Support all aspects of managing, analyzing, structuring, and negotiating energy management transactions as a key member of the Energy Management team.
• Oversee the Energy Management documentation process and bring agreements to execution (Trading, ISO, QSE, Investor LLCAs/Trading Annexes).
• Work with Credit and Energy Risk to support the internal approval process.
• Communicate with project stakeholders on market conditions, trading risks, and optimization opportunities.
• Develop and enhance tools for trade execution, project limits, reporting, and trade capture with Market Analytics and Energy Risk teams.
• Evaluate market opportunities and provide pricing guidance in alignment with project underwriting assumptions.
• Support customer pricing strategies and oversee proposals and presentations.
• Evaluate RFPs, support bid prep, and manage procurement participation.
• Provide offtake analysis on new project opportunities (M&A and greenfield).
• Support relationship-building with key customers.
• Participate in energy working groups, trade shows and conferences.
• Track policy and regulatory developments impacting market strategy.
