Job summary

H&P Executive Search seeks a Director, Senior Counsel to deliver strategic legal guidance across energy and infrastructure matters. You will advise senior stakeholders, draft and negotiate commercial agreements, and manage regulatory and employment issues.

The role requires a US bar license, Texas admission preferred, and the ability to work with internal teams on a hybrid schedule in San Antonio. Strong judgment, integrity, and independence are essential.

Qualifications

• Active license and good standing with a U.S. state bar; Texas admission preferred or achievable in time.
• Significant experience as a practicing attorney in a law firm or corporate environment.
• Strong experience advising on employment and broader corporate matters.
• Ability to provide practical, commercially oriented advice to senior stakeholders.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills.
• High degree of professional judgment, ethics and integrity.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving capabilities.
• Navigate complex or ambiguous issues and provide clear recommendations under tight deadlines.
• Solid business acumen and understanding of commercial implications of legal advice.
• Collaborate effectively with Legal, senior management, business stakeholders, vendors and external counsel.
• Work independently while maintaining strong internal communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and day-to-day legal advice on complex commercial, regulatory and employment matters.
• Develop practical legal solutions and guide stakeholders through implementation.
• Identify legal and regulatory risks and escalate to senior Legal leadership as needed.
• Build relationships with stakeholders and support organizational objectives.
• Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements and documents.
• Advise on procurement, contracting, financing, real estate and strategic transactions.
• Support pre-litigation and litigation matters, managing external counsel and spend.
• Advise on state and federal regulatory requirements and proceedings.
• Provide guidance on compliance, audits, investigations and regulatory interactions.
• Mentor and support junior legal team members as required.
• Perform other legal and strategic responsibilities as assigned.
