Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or equivalent.
• At least five years of relevant building energy assessments or related field work.
• Working knowledge of commercial and institutional HVAC, controls, lighting, and other major energy-using systems.
• Ability to develop and review transparent engineering calculations and apply manuals or program methods.
• Ability to collect and interpret site data and conduct facility visits safely and professionally.
• Strong Excel skills and ability to work with utility consumption data and project tracking systems.
• Clear technical writing and interpersonal skills to explain findings to customers and program staff.
• Willingness to travel to Rochester-area facilities as required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct site assessments, document equipment and operations.
• Analyze facility data from bills, interval data, and drawings.
• Identify improvement opportunities in HVAC, controls, lighting, and other systems.
• Calculate energy savings using prescriptive and custom methods.
• Evaluate economics including payback and incentives.
• Prepare concise assessment deliverables with technical summaries.
• Review calculations and resolve discrepancies before submission.
• Support project advancement by discussing findings with customers and contractors.
• Verify project conditions with follow-up visits to update savings estimates.
• Maintain organized calculation files and project records.
• Share recurring technical issues to improve methods and tools.
