Job summary

City of Boise is seeking a senior leader to serve as Deputy City Clerk, overseeing licensing, policy administration, and regulatory functions. You will guide governance, ensure compliance with City Code, state and federal requirements, and support community engagement across departments.

You will work under the Director of the City Clerk to lead strategic initiatives, manage staff, and advise elected officials on complex regulatory and operational matters, including elections, records, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, political science, public policy, law, organizational leadership, or related field.
• 5 years of progressively responsible experience in public administration, government, regulatory administration, organizational governance, code and policy administration; at least 2 years in management.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee City Clerk operations, programs and staff; ensure alignment with City goals.
• Oversee licensing, permitting, regulatory functions and Code compliance processes.
• Guide governance frameworks, policy development, and enterprise-wide governance initiatives.
• Advise executive leadership, elected officials on regulatory, policy and operational matters.
• Coordinate elections, public records, and legislative administration responsibilities.
• Collaborate with departments and external stakeholders on complex regulatory matters.
