Job summary

SmithGroup's Washington, DC office seeks an Electrical Engineering Intern for Summer 2027. You will join integrated design teams to analyze and design building electrical systems, including power distribution and lighting.

You will prepare reports, participate in meetings, and gain mentorship while visiting project sites as available. The program offers hands-on project work, Lunch & Learn sessions, and hybrid work with three days in-office and potential remote days.

Qualifications

• Sophomore year completed or graduate standing by internship.
• Familiarity with SKM/AGI32 and Microsoft Office; experience with Revit is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Join integrated design teams for electrical engineering projects.
• Analyze, design, and document electrical systems (power, lighting, fire alarm).
• Prepare technical reports and system assessments; participate in design meetings.
• Receive mentorship from experienced engineers.
• Visit construction sites or project sites as available.
