Job summary

Duke Energy is seeking an Engineering Technologist I/II to advance customer service and effectively prepare design distribution work orders for new residential subdivisions and mixed-use developments.

The role supports the construction and improvement of the electrical distribution system, with hybrid mobility and supervision over time, and requires strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with diverse teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology with no experience, OR Associate degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology AND two years minimum experience, OR high school diploma/GED AND four years minimum of equivalent experience.
• In lieu of above, Associates Degree in Engineering Technology, OR high school diploma/GED with two years minimum of equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of individuals from diverse backgrounds and good written/oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Work within a team environment and collaborates across multiple work groups to accomplish common goals
• Applies technical expertise in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems in area of expertise including but not limited to electrical distribution and other utility systems
• Independently prepares thorough and accurate work orders, technical reports, correspondence, documentation, electrical and mechanical calculations and sketches
• Communicates frequently and consistently with customers both internal and external to ensure satisfaction
• Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives that follow established processes through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities
• Applies developing level knowledge in preparing thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches
• Conducts engineering and related studies and performs design work for field construction
• Strives to continually develop, transform and improve job-related, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance
• Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities
• Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills
• Maintains accurate records and files
• Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally
