Job summary

Archer, collaborating with Vanguard, seeks a Risk Director to provide independent risk oversight and strategic advisory support across a diverse broker-dealer and wealth management portfolio. Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in wealth management and/or personal investment advisory services, with at least 8 years in risk management.
• Undergraduate degree required; graduate degree preferred (e.g., JD, MBA, MS in Risk/Finance).
• Hands-on mastery of operational risk frameworks and control assurance (design, testing, monitoring, reporting).
• Demonstrated people leadership capabilities, including building scalable teams and driving a risk culture.
• Exceptional communicator and strategic thinker who builds consensus with senior leaders.

Responsibilities

• Hire, evaluate, and supervise crew; set performance standards and compensation in line with HR policies.
• Partner with stakeholders to establish risk and control management standards aligned with policies.
• Provide independent oversight of Line 1 risk activities and challenge risk controls.
• Identify risks and provide industry insights to inform business decisions.
• Monitor adherence to risk governance policies and develop a program to challenge risk effectiveness.
• Produce independent risk reporting and enterprise-wide insights for leadership forums.
• Lead a team of risk practitioners in risk analysis and management projects.
