Job summary

Vanguard’s Personal Wealth division seeks a Risk Director to provide independent risk oversight, credible challenge, and strategic risk advisory across cash products, payments, and money movement capabilities. The role partners with product, operations, technology, legal, compliance, and third‑party providers to ensure new capabilities are designed, launched, and scaled in a risk‑smart, compliant manner.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years in wealth management or personal investment advisory services with 8+ years in risk management and payments risk.
• Experience with debit card programs and transactional product launches.
• Graduate degree preferred (e.g., JD, MBA, MS in Risk/Finance).

Responsibilities

• Provide independent oversight of risk activities and challenge key controls.
• Partner with product, operations, technology, legal, and compliance to design and oversee risk management standards.
• Develop and maintain risk governance frameworks and deliver enterprise risk reporting.
• Lead a team of risk practitioners and drive risk assessments for high-impact areas.
• Stay current on industry regulations and apply best practices to mitigate risks.
