Job summary

University of Michigan are seeking a Biomedical Engineering Technician- Clinical Engineering Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to repair, install, and maintain a wide range of imaging systems across Michigan Medicine facilities.

You will perform calibrations, safety tests, and equipment rounds, while documenting actions for HIPAA compliance. The role includes on-call and travel within Michigan Medicine sites, with opportunities for hybrid work where allowed.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology or equivalent military training.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in biomedical field repairing and supporting a wide variety of medical equipment; or 4+ years in diagnostic imaging service with related training.
• Knowledge of electronic theory, technology, and test equipment.
• Knowledge of radiology theory and technology.
• Knowledge of safety precautions when servicing high voltages and working with ionizing radiation.
• Knowledge of mechanical systems and tools.
• Knowledge of basic networking theory.

Responsibilities

• Repair, install, maintain, calibrate, and inspect diagnostic imaging systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance and electrical safety testing of diagnostic imaging systems.
• Maintain documentation of all actions and test results according to department policy.
• Periodically travel to other Michigan Medicine facilities to perform service activities.
• Perform rounds in assigned areas and participate in on-call rotation.
• Serve as a resource to user departments by providing assistance and instruction on the proper use of equipment.
• Responsible for maintaining documentation in accordance with HIPAA, TJC standards, CMS, and department policies.
• Comply with HIPAA.
