Job summary

M&T Bank seeks an experienced Technology Manager to lead the Database Platform Engineering team in Buffalo, NY. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, secure database platforms that meet strategic objectives and drive performance across systems.

You will mentor engineers, develop product roadmaps, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical offerings with business needs.

Qualifications

• A combined minimum of 11 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including at least 4 years in engineering and/or architecture and 5 years in leadership.
• 5+ years related work experience with databases required, or 8+ years technology experience with 3+ in a database/infra role (Postgres and/or Oracle).

Responsibilities

• Lead the database engineering team, providing technical guidance and mentorship.
• Design, implement, and maintain robust database platforms, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
• Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies, implementing best practices.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and ensure DB platforms align with needs.
• Lead technical product management activities for strategic database-related products.
• Develop and manage the database product backlog and roadmap.
• Ensure delivery messaging, reporting, and customer outreach as needed.
• Resolve production issues and drive escalations to timely resolution.
• Oversee development practices including CI/CD and automated deployment.
• Ensure adherence to internal controls and regulatory standards.
