Job summary

Early Warning is seeking a data scientist in Chicago with hybrid work flexibility to join a team delivering ML and AI solutions across the business. You will translate business problems into data-driven models, build and validate features, and collaborate with product and engineering to deploy models that drive customer value.

The role requires strong data analysis, production-grade code, and experience with Python, SQL, and visualization tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Operational Research or related field or equivalent work experience.
• A minimum of 2 years data science, engineering, mathematics, or related work experience; internships count.
• Able to write Model development technical documents.
• Experience with data visualization tools.
• Able to write production level code that is well-written and explainable.
• Experience SAS, Python, SQL or R.
• Experience applying ML techniques and understanding key parameters that affect performance.
• Ability to communicate findings to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Produces standard and ad hoc analytic reports.
• Assists with developing, testing, and documenting open-source codes for data analysis and modeling.
• Perform data analysis tasks including data transformations and root-cause investigation.
• Participate in internal model validation procedures and external validations.
• Explore and aggregate data to uncover anomalies that impact model performance.
• End-to-end feature engineering and validation.
• Write production-grade code in a fast-paced environment.
• Apply ML techniques to business problems for optimal solutions.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering to solve problems and identify trends.
• Explain and visualize results to non-technical audiences.
• Protect the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data.
