Job summary

Astronautics seeks a capable Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines across the data ecosystem. You will transform raw data into accessible datasets for data scientists and business stakeholders in a hybrid on-site role at our Oak Creek, WI headquarters.

You will work on data architecture, ETL/ELT pipelines, and data governance while collaborating with data architects, BI specialists, and analysts to deliver impactful solutions that align with business goals.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. person as defined under U.S. export regulations.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Minimum three years of professional experience in a Data Engineer role with scalable data platforms.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and at least one major programming language (Python, Java, Scala).
• Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure) and core data services.
• Solid understanding of data warehousing, ETL/ELT and modern data architectures.
• Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect, Dagster).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data architectures (data lakes/warehouses).
• Develop end-to-end ETL/ELT pipelines for batch and real-time data.
• Evaluate and implement new data technologies to enhance the platform.
• Monitor and optimize pipeline performance, scalability, and costs.
• Model data and manage relational, NoSQL, and object storage solutions.
• Enforce data quality, governance, and security policies.
• Collaborate with data architects, BI specialists, analysts, and stakeholders.
