Job summary

Enlighten, leader in big data solutions, seeks a Data Operations Engineer (Hybrid) to lead the DataOps team ensuring reliability and rapid delivery of mission-critical datasets at Fort Meade, MD. Translate mission requirements into technical workflows for automated, self-healing pipelines.

You’ll oversee data flows, collaborate with engineering, and maintain high-touch client communication while optimizing performance and latency across cloud environments.

Qualifications

• Clearance required: active Secret with ability to obtain TS/SCI; U.S. Citizenship required.
• 9+ years in technical operations, systems engineering, or data management with a Bachelor’s degree; OR 7 years with Master’s; OR 13 years with HS diploma.
• Experience with distributed messaging queues, data orchestration engines, and cloud-native storage.
• Experience with enterprise observability platforms and log analysis tools.
• Fluency in SQL for data validation with team and customer.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (Python or Java) to automate tasks.
• Strong communication to translate customer requirements into technical specs.
• IAT Level II certification and DoD 8140/8570 compliance.
• Ability to work on customer site in Fort Meade, MD ~2 days/week.

Responsibilities

• Lead a technically focused DataOps team responsible for reliability, uptime, and speed-to-delivery of mission-critical data sets.
• Serve as the primary technical contact for stakeholders and translate mission requirements into workflows.
• Oversee data flows and pipelines using standard templates and core libraries.
• Tune cluster performance and monitor pipelines to minimize latency.
• Drive evolution of the data platform toward an automated, self-healing model.
• Coordinate ecosystem efforts to reuse scripts, flow strategies, and wins across domains.
• Implement automated Quality Gates and schema validations before production.
• Troubleshoot complex dataflow issues across distributed messaging, orchestration, and cloud environments.
