Job summary

Harvard Kennedy School seeks a Manager of Data Acquisition and Management to source, license, and govern research data assets. You will lead a team ensuring compliant data use across projects and collaborate with faculty and university stakeholders to manage licensing, risk, and data governance.

The role focuses on negotiating data contracts, building data management systems, and delivering compliant data plans for sensitive research data in a fast-paced academic environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., data governance, information or library science, law, public policy).
• 5+ years of experience in data licensing/contracts, research compliance, or a related field, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Demonstrated experience negotiating data contracts, licenses, or data use agreements.

Responsibilities

• Data Licensing & Acquisition: oversee data licensing, vendor relationships, and contract renewals.
• Data Management & Safety: develop compliant data management plans and assess risk in data handling.
• Policy, SOPs and Governance: create and update SOPs governing access, use, and disposition of data.
• Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting: liaise with faculty, providers, and university offices; report on licensing portfolio and risk.
