Job summary

Summit Utilities, Inc. is seeking a Manager of Data Engineering (SGL35) to lead our data engineering team in a hybrid role based in Little Rock, Fort Smith, or Fayetteville, AR.

You’ll drive scalable data infrastructure, pipelines, governance, and data-driven decision making across the enterprise. Ideal candidates have 7+ years in data engineering with leadership experience, strong Python/Scala/Java skills, and deep knowledge of AWS/Azure/Google cloud data services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or related field; or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years in data engineering with complex data solutions.
• 3+ years in a leadership or managerial role.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor data engineers and analysts to grow professionally.
• Oversee data warehousing, data lakes, and data pipelines architecture.
• Define engineering standards, methodologies, and best practices.
• Collaborate with data science, BI, and app teams to meet data needs.
• Ensure reliability, scalability, and performance of data systems.
• Implement data governance, quality, and security measures.
• Manage end-to-end data engineering projects from planning to delivery.
• Evaluate new technologies to enhance capabilities and automate processes.
• Communicate project status and risks to stakeholders.
• Monitor KPIs for data systems and team performance.
