Job summary

Office of King County Councilmember Sarah Perry is seeking a Data & Communications Intern to support data transcription, cleaning, and basic analysis using Excel, turning results into accessible visuals for the public.

You will also draft and design public-facing communications via social media, newsletters, and text, while assisting the Communications Manager and attending community events with the Councilmember.

Qualifications

• Foundational knowledge in survey methodology and statistical analysis.
• Experience with accurate data entry and transcription.
• Familiarity with Excel formulas and data cleaning.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; understands audience.
• Availability to work 12-15 hours/week with a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, compile, and sort hard-copy survey documents for data entry into online survey platform, verifying and correcting data where necessary.
• Analyze public opinion survey results using foundational statistical methodologies.
• Translate data insights into accessible, visual forms for public consumption.
• Create social media posts for Councilmember’s Facebook and Instagram using information and media as directed by the Communications Manager.
• Support Communications Manager with drafting and sending the monthly newsletter, constituent email communications, and text message campaigns.
• Create design and marketing materials for posts, updates, and mailers to be shared with community members.
• Attend meetings/events in the community with Councilmember Perry and staff, gathering information and photos that can be used for communication materials.
