Office of King County Councilmember Sarah Perry is seeking a Data & Communications Intern to support data transcription, cleaning, and basic analysis using Excel, turning results into accessible visuals for the public.

ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP The Office of King County Councilmember Sarah Perry is seeking a passionate Data & Communications Intern looking to grow their experience in data-informed public interest communication! As an intern, you will support the compilation and analysis of our annual District 3 public opinion survey. Data work will primarily involve data transcription and entry, data cleaning, basic descriptive analysis that can be completed in Excel, and most importantly, translating analysis into accessible visual insights for the public. Coding experience is not necessary to succeed in this role. You will also support the drafting, revision, and design of other public-facing communications via social media, email newsletter, and text.
Councilmember Sarah Perry represents King County Council District 3, including 75,000 unincorporated residents, as well as residents in the cities and surrounding areas of Issaquah, Sammamish, Redmond, Woodinville, Bothell, Duvall, Carnation, Fall City, Preston, Snoqualmie, North Bend, Snoqualmie Pass, Stevens Pass, and Skykomish.

Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
12 to 15 hours per week for 6 months, beginning in January 2027. Work will be done both in the office (King County Courthouse in Seattle) and remotely, along with attending events/meetings with the Councilmember. The intern will report directly to District 3 Communications & Community Engagement Manager, Isabel Smith, and will work closely with the rest of the team.
