Job summary

The Virginia Retirement System is seeking a Data Analyst to perform complex data analysis and reporting, improve data reporting capabilities, and develop data quality assurance processes. The ideal candidate has expertise in business data analysis, excels at communicating technical information to non-technical audiences, and can leverage SQL, Power BI, and Tableau.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field; 3–5 years of data analysis, data science, and/or data warehousing experience
Advanced knowledge of SQL
Knowledge of DAX, Power BI, and/or other similar systems
Excellent communication skills including written, verbal and presentation

Responsibilities

Collaborate with data owners to ensure data-related objectives are understood and documented
Gather, evaluate and document business and technical data requirements for new systems, enhancements and defects
Create customizable reports and visualizations using SQL, Power BI or Tableau
Design data-driven analyses to improve customer experience and agency objectives
Present data-driven recommendations and findings with documentation and reports
